Vir Andres Hera’s Piramidal is the experience of a secret language, Aljamiado.
Indecipherable by both the Spanish and the Arabs, this language, which appeared during Muslim Spain, has now fallen into disuse. The strange diction of two Arabic speakers is matched by baroque images of Holy Week processions in southern Spain, Andalusia. The text translated into Aljamiado is an extract from the emblematic poem of the Spanish language: Primero sueno, first dream, of the Mexican baroque poet Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz (1648-1695). In this mystical poem art, science, mythology and theology converge.
